Mix It Up– Perfume Layering

One of the latest trends in the perfume world is to layer different perfumes. It is gaining enough popularity that there are “how to” instructions on various websites as well as layering “recipes” for acquiring specific scents.

This is a great way to add your personality and create a signature scent made just for you!

The playful scents from Tokyo Milk would be a great start for experimenting with perfume layering. If you’re a girl with a sweet tooth,  layer on I Want Candy with Let Them Eat Cake and enjoy the symphony of sweetness. DISCLAIMER: I Bar and Green Valley Salon and Spa cannot be held responsible if you crave cake and candy all day. :)

For a more floral fare to welcome spring, pair Eden with Fresh Kiss.

Be creative and don’t be scared to try opposite scents as well. Mix the woodsy Dead Sexy with the sweetness of Cherry Bomb.

Whatever you choose, make it unique to you!

Master Perfumer (yes, there really is such a thing!!!), Jean-Claude Ellena even created a list of perfume combination suggestions for enhancing particular scents within perfumes. Here are a couple examples:

No5 de Chanel
[to enhance the] Iris: Après l'Ondée (Guerlain)
[to enhance the] Masculine notes, aldehydes and lavender: Tabac Original.....

Trésor de Lancôme
[to enhance the] Leather: Cuir de Russie (Maître-Parfumeur et Gantier) or Centaure (Cardin)
[to enhance the] Violet: Violette (Berdoues or Floris)
[to enhance the] Rose: Evelyn (Crabtree & Evelyn), Tea Rose (Perfumer's Workshop), Rose du Jardin Retrouvé

We would love to hear what creations you come up with! Feel free to leave  comment and share your recipe!
