Antioxidants….Glycolic Peel…Collagen….

You constantly hear these words when it comes to skin care product, BUT do you know what they mean?

Get to know these beauty terms to help you become a beauty-product-shopping-pro!

Antioxidants
Antioxidants help the skin protect itself against free-radical damage.

Broad-Spectrum
A sunscreen with “Broad-Spectrum” on the label shields against UVA rays. UVA rays are the rays that reach deep into the skin, can harm elastin and cause premature aging. Broad-Spectrum products also protect against UVB rays (the sunburn-causing rays).

Collagen
Collagen is a protein found throughout the body. Along with elastin, it gives your skin its texture, structure and appearance.

Glycolic Peel
An acid-based solution that is applied to the face then removed. This is designed to be an intense exfoliant that dissolves the skin’s top layer, revealing softer, clearer skin.

Pigmentation
Pigmentation is the result of melanin. Hyperpigmentation causes brown spots, freckles and unevenly colored patches.

Retinol
The nonprescription form of Vitamin A prevents wrinkling and helps produce more collagen.
